In the early morning of September 4th, 2010 a 7.1 magnitude earthquake shook Christchurch.

Many homes lost their chimneys, had roofs damaged and suffered cracks to walls, floors and foundations.

The 6.3 magnitude quake in February 2011 was located closer to Christchurch and proved much more destructive. 181 lives were lost as buildings collapsed and many more suffered terminal damage.
